1 map, pasted on board. 28" X 23 ½". Titled "Key Map of Canadian Arctic Expedition. Discoveries in the Arctic Sea 1914-18." Inscribed in ink top center in white unexplored area, "Dear Marie Ahnighito Peary:/ Cape Ahnighito so called/ because it has the same latitude as your birthplace/ and for other reasons is at the tip of the/ arrow as you will see too, by consulting the "final" map, as printed for instance/ opposite page 450 of The Friendly/ Arctic/ Vilhjalmur Stefansson/ February 25, 1926." (He has drawn an arrow extending from the word "arrow" to the western shore of King /Christian Land). Immediately below this, in the same hand is written, "This is the original/ proof struck (illegible word) for the/ MacMillan Company before/ the Friendly Arctic was/ published". Writing has faded. The map has a legend yet to be completed for the route and drift of the "Karluk" and for 5 ice trips between 1914 and 1918. These routes are not indicated on the map in its present state.
