Published General Orders between July 22, 1870 and August 12, 1870.  General Court Martial Orders Nos. 41 were the charges against Lieutenant Colonel James Totten, Assistant Inspector General, U. S. Army; the Court found him guilty and dismissed him from the service.

The envelope, front, in landscape orientation, addressed to "R. M. O'Reilly, Asst. Surgeon" with printed "Surgeon General's Office, Official Business," in upper right correct. Penned "Jno Wilson, Chief Clerk" Scratched out print "Surgeon General" The address scratched, "care of Med Director Dept of the Md Fort Leavenworth Ka" Above address, "Edgarton, CT" in Colorado Territory.
