Author wrote from "Fort Ontario" Correspondence written on paper with a centered engraved image with the Latin motto printed below image: "Fortitudine et Prudentia" The image is of a right hand grasping a dagger with the arm attired in medieval amor. O'Reilly suggested Tom reads Renée Caroline de Froulay Créquy's "Souvenirs de la marquise de Créquy," and attempt writing a "pleasant gossippy sort of an article" and contribute to a magazine.

The correspondence between O'Reilly and his friend Tom primarily pertains to O'Reilly's marriage to Frances Pardee.
