Emblem, centered top on invitation, is a shield with cross, topped a cross. Ribbon banner below with motto "per fidem libertas"  The invitation read, "The Catholic Club of Philadelphia requests the pleasure of your company at a reception to His Eminence Cardinal Gibbons on Thursday evening, September 15th, 1887, from 8 to 10 o'clock"
The ticket, in landscape orientation, reads "The Catholic Club of Philadelphia. No. 217 South Broad Street. Reception to His Eminence Cardinal Gibbons, Thursday Evening, September 15, 1887. Admit Mr. _______________"
