Correspondence written on lined paper. Author wrote from "Camp Date Creek" in Arizona territory. O'Reilly ordered by General Devin to accompany him and several other officers, to inspect the temporary camp, at the Toll Gate, as a desirable "place for a permanent camp" Note: the camp, established 9 May 1869, was first designated as Camp Devin, renamed Camp Toll Gate until 1870.
