OM D548.S6454 1920 1 v. (16 leaves): 17 photographs ; 13 x 9 cm. On front cover: Whitsuntide 1920. A recollection of Whitsuntide 1919. Constructed title from album and sale entry. Captioned photographs are by one "Tich", and record a reunion trip taken by a group of World War I veterans calling themselves "The Remnants." The group traveled to France and Germany in Whitsuntide (June)1919, visiting battlefields and cities. The camaraderie and friendship of the group is obvious throughout the photos, though the album's effect is bittersweet due to the author's poetic, mournful captioning. The first leaf contains a group photo, along with the words "All that was left of 'em," while the third depicts a gravestone with the words "A moment's thought for those who weep today." Album cover is brown cardboard, tied with twine in 4 holes; pages are green cardboard; title and captions in red typescript.
