Postcard, To: Mr. & Mrs. N, Anhalt From: E. C. Howard, September 2, 1915.

OM D505.M564 1914 Artist's rendition of nightlife on Canal Street with tall buildings in background and trolleys in front with pedestrians walking along the sidewalks.

Postcard, front: "Canal Street By Night, 'The Broadway of New Orleans,' La." Note on  postcard, back: "Dear Friends So far so good. Leave for Gal. 8 P.M. to-night E C. Howard"
The postcard was sent to Nathan and Bessie Anhalt, 915 Prospect Ave, in Bronx, New York.  Their son, Abraham Anhalt, "Abbie," enlisted into the U. S. Army in September, 1914, and was assigned as a private in Company H of the 4th U.S. Infantry Division.  In the fall 1914 his regiment was assigned to the Texas-Mexico border to patrol and guard the border since the Mexicans fought to topple their Dictator and establish a republic.  The postcards he sent were probably for his family and he signed them as "Abbie."
