A probable case of accidental inhumation of 1,600 years ago.
The literature contains few reports of the examination of frozen bodies. Limited to Arctic and high mountain areas, such finds have included the mammoths of Siberia, frozen for 25,000 years, 1 the bodies of Peruvians, 2 and that of an Arctic explorer .3 This report presents the findings of a complete autopsy performed on the frozen body of an Eskimo woman dead for approximately 1,600 years.
