Investigation of the equation of state of astrophysical bodies by the LMTO method.

The electronic contribution to the equation of state at high densities and low temperatures was calculated using two basically different methods: the first method is based on electronic plane waves while the second is based on lattice electronic wave functions. The purpose of the comparison is to determine the accuracy of the equation of state that is normally used in stellar evolution calculations (which is based on plane waves) in the region of pressure ionization.
