PCG83-2L Donnelly Lecture.
Here are audio recordings from a lecture by Brian Donnelly on the treatment of place in Irish poetry, particularly as it relates to the poets William Butler Yeats, Patrick Kavanagh, Seamus Heaney, and Derek Mahon. Donnelly reads from selections of Yeats' "The Second Coming" and "Coole Park 1929", Kavanagh's "Epic" and "Inniskeen Road: July Evening", Heaney's "Digging", "Bogland" and "The Tollund Man", and Mahon's "Afterlives", "The Sea in Winter" and "North Wind: Portrush".
This lecture was originally delivered as part of the Philadelphia Ceili Group's 'Oíche Cois Tine' (Night Beside the Fire) cultural series from 1983.
