Friendship book gathering poems and prose selections inscribed by affectionate friends and relatives; several entries appear to be original. A few entries are written in French. Some pieces give "Washington City" in the byline. Cornelia Fletcher was a native of Washington, D.C. before moving to Philadelphia after her marriage.
Included are two hand-painted flowers; two watercolor scenes; one pen-and-ink tropical view; one colored drawing of an artist's palette. Not all entries are dated, but those that are range from 1828 to 1842.
