INTRODUCING OURSELVES
This paper named—THE IRISH RE-
PUBLIC—appears for the purpose of
bringing to the Irish People in the U. S.
news of the War between Ireland and Eng-
land.
The Daily Papers in America are bought
eagerly for news of recent activities of the
I. R. A. The radio—at news times—is
feverishly. listened to, with the same
thought. But scarcely one-tenth of the
actions, successfully carried out by the I.
R. A. in England have found their way to
the eyes or ears of our Irish People here.
Since the Declaration of War between
the Irish Republic and England, on Jan-
uary 12th, 1939, close on 200 operations
have been carried out by the Army of the
Irish Republic. The destruction to Eng-
lish property has not yet been fully esti-
mated, but must be well over the 2,000,000
pounds mark. The moral effect is shown
in the panicky legislation passed by Parlia-
ment, and the inconvenient rules adopted
by Railway Stations, Hotels and Post Of-
fices. Even on days when the I. R. A. are in-
active England must keep her guards and
extra guardians on a whole-time basis. She
must be always on the watch. This alone
costs her millions of pounds.
The Daily Press in England is headlined
nearly every day with some action or oper-
ation of the I. R. A. Bombs explode in
Electric Stations, Railway Depots, Parcel
Depots, and other Public Services. Fires
occur in Post Offices, Letter-Boxes, on
Mail trains and in Hotels. Printed within
are some of these I. R. A. successes as they
appeared in the English Press. We regret
our space does not permit us to print all.
Perhaps with time and the generosity of
our readers, our space will be enlarged. We
know how generously the response is to the
call for subscriptions to THE CAUSE of
Irish Freedom, but necessity compels us to
appeal to you to give a little extra for the
purposes of letting the Irish People here
learn how the fight for Independence is
progressing. Buy this paper. Buy copies
for your friends. Help us to bring you news
of the events as they are taking place. Help
us to help the I. R. A. in their war for
Liberty for the longest oppressed nation on
the earth. Oppressed and suppressed by a
nation which the world thinks is the
champion of the downtrodden and of the
small nations. The exemplifier of Demo-
cracy. Moyha!! The men doing long re-
vengeful terms in British Gaols, because
they dared to fight for Liberty show the
world the hypocrisy of English Democracy.
Irishmen and Women come to the aid of
the I. R. A. in its present campaign. Re-
echo the words of the men who joyfully
accept 20 years in gaol because they dared
for Ireland. GOD SAVE IRELAND.
“STATE OF WAR PREVAILS"
London Times, 7-23-39
“By our Constitutional convention, the presump-
tion is always against any minister who asks for such
extra judicial authority. In rebutting the presump-
tion, Sir Samuel Hoare is entitled to claim first, as
already stated that between the I. R. A. and the
British Government, an implicit state of war prevails
which, incidentally, might become very dangerous, in
case of war with a foreign enemy .
