The trip begins Sunday June 22nd, 1924. Three or perhaps four young navy men depart Pennsylvania and travel via automobile to California and back in this incredible documented road trip. Some of the captioned locales include: standing in front of car, leaving McConnellsburg, Pa.; Lake Michigan; Garfield Park, Chicago; Elk Creek, Wis.; going fishing at Lake Pleasant; Lake Minnetonka; Yellow Stone Trail, S.D.; Bad Lands of Montana; Yellow Stone Park; Post Office at Yellow Stone; bears at Old Faithful; Cody, Wyo.; Columbia River Highway photo post cards; grove of redwood trees; Red Wood Highway; Hollywood, Cal.; Los Angeles, Cal.; airplane rides; the Grand Canyon; Colorado River; Hopi Indian Reservation; Mississippi River; Washington, D.C.
Last page ends "Good-Bye Old Boy You served us well, and in our memory will always dwell, thoughts of how you carried us through, over mountains, deserts and bad roads too. 9500 miles, 573 gallons of gas, 28 gallons of oil, and 70 days of travel".
On page [19] the likely names of the travelers are written on a chalkboard: "Paul Haines / Warren Bridegam / George Spang".
