CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS.
On the 12th of March, 1836, the Legislature of Louisiana incorporated a
society, under the name and style of the “New Orleans Catholic Associ-
ation, for the reliefof Male Orphans,” and presented one thousand dollars
to the Institution, as a. donation on the part ofthe State... The Rt Rev.
Bishop Blanc is President of the Board of Directors, who are chosen among
the members of the Association... Every one who pays $5 entrance, anda
monthly contribution of 50 cents, is a member of the Society. If, on en.
tering, he pay bne hundred dollars, he becomes a member for life, and is
dispensed from the monthly contribution. The present number of or.

St, Patrick’s Female Orphan _Asylam, at. New Orleans,
under the care of five Sisters of Charity. It contains 43 orphans.’
Orphan Asyluny at St. Michael’s in which there are 25 orphans.
Charity Uospital at New Orleans,-under the care of thirteen
Sisters of Charity. The number of patients varies according to the season,
{t is never below 160, and seldom’ éxcecds 360. During the time of the
yellow fever, in September last, it amounted to'431.
