ST. JosEPH’s CHURCH, PHILADELPHIA. I25 LIST OF MARRIAGES AND BAPTISMS REGISTERED AT ST. JOSEPH’S Cl-IU RC1-l, PHILADELPHIA, PA. BY REV. ROBERT MOLYNEUX, S. J. (Fourth Series.) From 1771? to December, 1786. (Copied from-the original and prepared by Rev. Thomas 0. Middleton, D. D .,'O. S. A.) At St. Joseph's Church, Philadelphia, is preserved the, registry book of marriages and baptisms, that was kept by Rev. Robert Molyneux, of the Society of jesus, and a com- panion of Rev. Ferdinand Farmer, a member of the same Society. These two Fathers kept separate books. Fr. Far-A mer's registers from I 771 to 1786 have been published by the American Catholic Historical Society. (For the Baptisms, see “Records”, vol. I. pages 3I5-350, and vol. II. pages 225-275 ; and for the Marriages, vol. II. pages 290-315.) In the present volume appear the Molyneux registers for the same period. In these registers, Fr. Molyneux’s name appears six times-viz. (I) at the top of page one of the Marriage Regis- ter he has written his name--in Latin-thus, “Robertus Moly- neux”; (2) at the top of page three (of the same,) he’ has put the following headingaain Latina-viz:, “ Catalogus Matri1;zo7zi- orum 1 CoramRab..Moly7mzx ]Wz's.rz'o7zarz'o [ Celelzralorzmz juzcta ritzmz przze.s'crz'plzmz ] z'nter”; that is, “A list of Marriages cele- brated in the presence of Robert Molyneux, Missionary, according to prescribed rite between”--; ‘and then follow the several entries; (3) on page four, he signs the marriage entry of Gregory Trahan and Margaret Bourke, as "Robertus Molyneux Miss.
