When Billy Leighton joined
the armed forces some eighteen
months ago his dad, co-Captain
William J. Leighton, placed a
small shrine on a tree in his
yard which he named “Madon-
na ox‘ the Snow.” Daily he placed
a vigil light before it.
When he learned that Billy,
who was stationed at Camp
Campbell, Ky., had received
overseas orders, he decided to
keep a vigil light burning con-

heavy enemy artillery and mor-

member of the First Battalion
Wire Team, with complete dis-
regard for his own personal

this heavy tire to repair and
replace wire.
“On one particular night Pvt.
Tegler located and repaired a
break in a wire line in an or-
chard while undcr intensive ene-

Pvt. Tegler rarely slept, for
when he was not actually re-
pairing a wire line he was out
checking or laying new wire.

credit upon himself and the

clover attached to his ignition
key must have met with some

both the clover and the key. If
he needs either or both and will
call ItITtenhouse 9172, head-
quarters will accommodate him.
