Lloyd

This is the collection of the Lloyd family papers and donations to Villanova including correspondence, deeds, receipts, newspaper clippings. Of particular value are the papers of Thomas Lloyd know as the "Father of United States Shorthand," and the donated photographs of Eamon de Valera, first President of the Republic of Ireland. Items from the Shea family and Rudolph family, both linked to the Lloyd family, are also included. The Rudolph family owned land that Villanova would come to occupy in the Main Line Philadelphia area, later known as Villanova. Note: the Villanova Digital Library American Catholic Historical Society Lloyd Family Collection has additional research materials available on Thomas Lloyd and his family.
