Anemone. This in its Root and Lea is like unto
the firll Scarlet Anemone, but its Flower confilis
of feven large Leaves, without any bottoms, of a
whitecolor, having edges, and’fome large Stripes
alfo of a Carnation or Flelh color to be feen in
them, marked fomewhat like an Apple Bloll'om,
and thereupon it is called in Latine, Anemone teno-

.XLVlI. ‘1. Anemone rennijolio Aore pleno ru-
bro volgorix .- Common narrow Leav’d double red
Wind-flower. Its Roors are thick and tuberous,
, fomething refembling fnrall Races of Ginger, of a
yellowiih brown color, and neither fo big nor f0
black, as thofe ofth: other kind with broad Leaves.
It has many winged Leaves, divided into many
andleveral Branches, each Leaf being cut and part-
ed into many divilions, fmaller, and more divided
than thofe of Parlly, and fome of them like thofe
of a Carrot. Among which tiles up one, tw'o,. or
more Stalks, according to the bignefs of the Roof,
with fome fmall green Leaves about the middle of
each'of‘ them, and hearing at, thetop, one great
double Flower, confil’ting of 6 or 7, and fomerimes
of more, broad outer Leaves, of a deep red color,
having in the middle a large Thtum of fmall
Leaves, of a lighter and much paler red color.
Out of the middle of which, comes many larger
and broader Leaves, of a lighter red than the out-
ward Leaves, and deeper than thofe of the Thrum,
which warmed by the Sun,’ fpread themfelves over
11'.
XLVIII. 2. Anemone tenuifolio flare Coerineo
pleno vulgarir: Common narrow Leav’d' double
Scarlet VVind-llower. Its Root is tuberous and
thick, very like to the Root of Iingle Scarlet Ane-
mone: And, its Leaves are very like to the lame,
but not fo fmall cut and divided, as that with the
, purple Flower. The Flower when it litlt opens it
fell, conlills of 6, and fometimes of 7 or 8 broad
Leaves, of a deep red, or excellent Scarlet color,
the middle head eing thick clofed, and ofa green-
ifh color, which after the Flower has Rood blown
fome time, does gather colors, and opens it felf
into many fmall Leaves, very thick, of a more
pale red color , and more Stowe] like than the
eaves.
XLIX. 3. Anemone Iennifolioflore piano tier];-
color: The narrow Leav’d double variable Wind-
flower, or double Applebloll'om. It is in all
things like the lirll (or Soil. 47.) but only in the
color of the Flowers, which in this, will be of a
pale blulh color, the tops of the Leaves almoli
white, and the bottoms Peach color. And fome-
times the Flower will be red like the iirll, but
llriped and variegated, with pale blulh, almoft
white, and fometimes without any marking at all.
All thefe diverlities are found in this one kind, all
proceeding from one Root.
L. I4. Anemone xenoifolio for: Coerineo am-
”71”,,“ The‘Douhle Carnation Velvet Vind-
Flower. Its Flower is of a deep Orange Tawney
Crimfon, near unto the color of the outer Leaves
of the French or A frimn Marigold, and not diiier-
ing from the next following in any thing ell‘e.
5. Anemone Ienuifolio jiore Coecineo pleno
variegola : the Patti - colored Double Crimfon
.Wind-Flower. This varies not neither in its Roor,
Leif, or form of its Flower, from the fecond at
(5:67. XLVlIl.) but in the color, in that this will
have fometimes the outer' broad Leaves parti-colo-
red, with whitilh or blulhcolored great Streaks in
1the red Leaves both inlide and outhde, as alfo
‘divers,of the middle or inner Leaves, llriped in
the lame manner. Its Root gives fairer Flowers
in fonie Years 'than in others -, and fometimes gives
Flowers all red again.:
LII. v ‘6. Anemone Ienmfolio Elegonrior jz’ore
pleno rubro. Narrow Leav’d more Elegant'Dou‘ble
red lVindvFlower, Its Root is as great and thick
as that of the Common Red, but flatter, and more
fpreading than it. It has narrower and more di-
vided, Leaves than an of the former , the Stalk is
taller, and the outer caves of the Flower more in
number, and lharper pointed, of a good Crimfon
Color ; the Thrum in the middle is of a pale red,
Out of whofe middle comes other Leaves, large and
fprmding themfelves almoll quite over the Flower,
of a deeper color thanthe Thrum. Many times
two Flowers will be joined together on one Stalk,
which happens more frequently than in any other.
LlIl. . Anemone renuifolio flare leno flame
rubenre : e Greater Double Blulh ind-Flower.
There is almolt no difference in the Roots or Leaves
of this, frorrtthe Common Double Starlet Anemone,
(at Sell XLVIII.) faving that the Leaves hereof
are a little broader, and feem to be of a little
frelher green color. The Flower of this is aslarge
almoli, and as double -, and the inner Leaves like-
wife almolt as large as they, being ofa whitilh or
l'lefh color at their firli opening; but afterwards
become of a molt lively bluih color : the bottoms
of the Leaves abiding of a deeper blulh; and with
long Handing, the tops of the Leaves will turn
almoll white again.
V. 8. Anemone IenoUbliojiorepleno Couineo.
Narrow leav’d double Scarlet Anemone, or Wind-
Flower. This is like that at Set]. LII. above, but
that the Stalks gtOw not'fo high, and the Flowers
are fomething fmaller, whichare thick and double,
and of an excellent rich Scarlet color, ul‘ually cal-
led the Incornodine de Spain. ,
LV. 9. Anemone tennifolio flore pleno Comneo
variegora coma olbefeenze : Narrow leav’d double
Scarlet variegated Wind-Flower, with a whmfh
middle or thrum. This is in.all things like the
lall, but only in the color of the Flower, which tn
this is of the Ihrne Scarlet color, but tinely limped
and marked with white 3 and the T hrum feeming
to be almoll all white; Sometimes alfo, the broad-
er Leaves will come out of the middle thereof, of
a bright Starlet liriped with white, like unto the
outer leaves.
LVl. 10. Anemone tenuifolio flore pleno com
Starla“): Narrow leav’d double Scarlet thrumed
Wind-flower. This differs from the lall, in that
the outer leaves hereof are white, and the Thrum,
is Ola Scarlet color. ' ,
