XXVI. The 8 up. It has the Virtues of the
Juice, Eli‘ence, nfufton and DecoEiion, but nets
more weakly by reafon of its being fo loaded wrth
Sugar, and therefore may be given from one, Ounce
to two Ounces or more, but as a Pegioral and
Bechick,iit is more proper,‘ becaufe 1t caufes a'
better expeEtoration, cleaniing the Lungs ofdthe
Tartarous matter lodging in them. If, an Ounce
of the Syrup is mixed with four Ounces of the
Decohlion in Wine, and it be ufed as a Gargle for
the Mouth, it cafes the Toothachi cures Ulcers in

dice, and powerhrlly evacuates the Morbiiick mule

cers or Wounds, it clmnfes, incarnates, dries, and
heals them; 'and'where eating Ulcers have been,
which have made the Bone bare of Flefh, it breeds
Flelh there, covers the Bone therewith, and mufes‘
it fo to grow up, as to fill the hollowneis of the
Ulcer again. It is alfo very good, to cleanfe, re-
folve the Callus, incarnate, Ell up with Flefh, and
heal Fiftula’s, old malign Ulcers and Cattkers,

lancholy and Watery Humors, and by that means
prevails againll the Droplie in an efpecialmanner,

and the forepart and Temples of the Head being
anointed therewith, it eafes Megrims and Pains of

in them, and anointed two, three'or four times a
day upon the Fundamentiand Hemorrhoidal Veins,
it ives refent eafe and relief as'ro the Piles.

hard Tumors which hap en in the Heihy pars.
XXXII. The Complain. If it is made of the green
Roots (being beaten, and applied) it gives cafe
in the Gout and Sciatica, and in fome few applica-
tions is ihid‘to Cutei them. Another Cataplafm,

ned or Sun burnt, or are aifefted with Sgurlf, Mor-
phew, black or blew Marks, or Scarrs, or other
deformities, it takes them away, and clears the
Skin; butthey who; ui'e it had need to takeheed,
thatthey ufe it not tooilrong,‘ norlet it lie on too
long, but rather wail: it off again with fair Water,

it is better after the Root is beaten to a, ulp, to tie
it up in a fine thin Linnen Cloth, and to lay It for
a day, and a night in fair Water, or Damask Rofe
Water; and then with this Wager, you ma wet
