of Strengthening, and provoking Venery, it 15 very
much-ufed by fome people, efpecrally in Cpuntrefi;
Towns, to be fryed in a Frying Pan, being fir
dipt into a Batter made of Flower, Eggs, and Milk
or Cream, and fo (being ferved up to the Table)

XIII. The liquid fair: aftbe Herb. Ufed as an
Errhine, it cleanfee the Head and Brain of Cold,
Hegmatick, and Vilhous Humors, or other matter
afhitting thofe parts : and taken from three ounces
to fix, mixt with a Glnfs of Tent OI‘AIIGmt, it ad-
mirably Ilrengtheris the Back, and excites Venus : It
thickens the beed, warms and comfortsthe Womb,
and is faid to mufe fruitfulnefs in Women, bemg
taken and ufed Morning and Night for fome con-

it clears the light; and being taken inwardly from
a dram, to a dram and half, Morning and
Night, in Syrup of Clary, it admirably llimulates
Verna, lirengthens the Reins, and cafes Pairs of
(hole Parts.
XXII. The jllucilagc (flirt Seed. If it is made
with Water, and applied to Tumors or Swellings,
it difculies and removes them. It all?) draws forth
5 linrers, Thorns, or other things gotten into the
F elh. If made with Vinegar, it is good againil:
hot Inllammations, as alfo Biles, Felons, and other
hot Excretions in the Flefh and Skin, more efpecial-
ly if it is applied to them before they are come to
too eat a head.
X III. The Elchary of 1b: Poudtr qftbe Leave:
and Seed. Put into Sore or Illcerated Eyes, it heals
them -, and being’ufed Morning, Noon and Night,
for fome confidetable time, it clears the Eye-Eght
of Pearls,-Films, Clouds, and other like things, and
helps dimnefs of light,- wthing the Eyes alfo be-
tvveen-thiles four-or 5v: times a da , with the
Juice or Elfence ofthe Herb. This Ele uary being
alfo taken inwardly from one dram to two drums,
Morning and Night, for fome time, helps Coughs,
and Illcers of the Lungs, rello'res in Confumptions,
lirengthens weak Backs, breeds Seed, excites Lult,
and admirably fortines thewhole Man.
