The Barry-Hayes Papers are maintained at Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, PA. For more information, visit  A public instrument of protest signed by the U.S. consul in Lisbon, William Jarvis.  Seamen of the Brig Superior, including Edward Wallington, John McDonald, Robert May, and John Miller, protested because of damages caused by a storm near Lisbon.  The document is signed by Jarvis and the seamen and contains a consular seal.
