The Barry-Hayes Papers are maintained at Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, PA. For more information, visit www.phillyseaport.org/library. This item contains three documents sealed together: an English language affidavit of ownership, a bill of lading for ten bales of Flemish linen, and a French language copy of the affidavit.  The affidavits confirm that "no citizen or subject of the present belligerent powers or any of them, hath any Share, Interest, or Part therein" of the goods shipped. The documents also display notary seals.
