The President’s Ship to be Put Out of
Commission Shortly After Arrival and
Turned Over to Army
When the George Washington docks
at Hoboken on Monday morning, Nov-
ember 24, 1919 the most famous ship in
our age, save perphaps the Lusitania,
will have finished her career as a United
States Naval Transport. After having
crossed the Atlantic for the thirty eighth
time she will be ready to bring to an end
her commission in the naval forces of our
country.
Built in Germany in 1909, interned in
America in 1914, seized by the United
States Government on April 5, 1917, de-
