-OUR PUKPOSE
[Glonfidently, though not with
presumption, we embark upon
this new.venture for Phi Kappa
Pi. We purpose to do much. We
have definite aims and for the
fulfillment of these aims we
are ready to do our utmost.
Now we purpose to further
unite, and in many cases, to
re-unite ourselves with our
Alumni members. The success of
our paper will be gauged in the
eyes of this Society by the
measure of response we receive
from our Alumni Brothers.
That our purpose is laudable
we have no doubt everyone will
agree. But the question is,will
we receive proper support in
our endeavor? Will our older
members back us in this ven+*
ture? We-plan to make it as
much for them as for ourselves.
We have shown our confidence
in them by putting our plan in
to action. Now we await their
response.
By means of thts publication
we hope to arouse an outside
interest in our activities at
Villanova and in our Engineer-
ing School. We have long felt
the lack of such interest. We
would welcome an influence.
which will broaden our views
and be of inestimable value to
us while at college.
Therefore, in this, our first
issue, we have voiced an appeal
= pf
to our Alumni to help us. At the
same time we present our paper
to the student body, confident
of their support. We will at~
tempt to make it truly represen-
tative of Phi Kappa Pi.

KEEP IT UP, ALUMNI?
Quite as pleasing as our glori-

the splendid turnout of enthus-
jastic Alumni for that contest.
Those “old grads’ who journeyed
by rail and auto to New Bruns-
wick saw bheir most ardent
anticipations surpassed. Their's
was the thrill of watching hist-
ory in the making.
Many a dull, drab season of foot
ball-has passed into our annals
before such a spectacle was pre~
sented for the famished eyes of
hopeful Villanovans.
At one leap, almost, our school
has regained its wonted prestige
in the football world. It is an
appropiate coincidence that this
epoch-making event should be.en-~
acted before one of the largest
gatherings of Alumni in recent
years.
More than one erstwhile foot-
ball hero who had helped make
gridiron history at Villanova,
watched his. successors perform

the stands. Like thoroughbreds,»
