CORPORATION AND CONSUMPTION.
“For your own sake and that of. your famil read this,
and preserve for future reference,”.is the appea on a pam-
phlet on Consum tioii, -terminating in a “-Consumptive
Catechism,” issue by the Dublin Corporation Public
Health Committee, after reading and assimilating which
cousumptives can “shuflie off” in blissful ccntentedness. at
having acquired a thorough knowledge of their complaint
and its remedy. For instance, he can learn that it is termed
“tuberculosis,” “ plithisis,” “lupus,” “ pulmonary con-
sumption,” and “decline”-that is, it is caused by “the
tubercle bacillus,” a creature “far too small to :be seen by
the unaided eye,” that said bacillus prefers the lungs as a
diet; and he can rejoice in the comforting assurance that
“We iknow of no way of killing it inside the body, because
anything that would do so would kill ‘the patient also.”
Any of our slum-dwellers having a misgiving as to the in-

Persons engaged in dusty occiipritions “are also in great
danger,” and should lose no time in exchanging them for
golf, tennis, cycling, etc.
“Let your food be simple and nourishin , taken at the
sailie time each day, and properly cooked. ake plenty of
milk. butter. eggs, and fresh .vegetables.’’ The attention of
the unemployed to this rule is earnestly requested.
.“If your occupation keeps you in the house, let the
windows remain open for the ingress of fresh air.” This
applies particularly to workers in feather lofts and photo-
graphic dark rooms.
.“ If you must work in the m.in, wear a mackiutosh. Never
sit down in “jet clothing or with wet feet.” This rule is of
paramount importance to street vendors of newspapers,
matches, fish, fruit, vegetables, etc.
‘The Gatechisin, which consists of eleven questions and
answers, contains almost everything it is necessary tolniow-
for prevention and cure. For instance-
