THAT Sir Christopher Nixon, M.D., LL.D., has beep
elected an “ Honorary Associate of the Royal,College
of Veterinary Surgeons." The gentleman with the
spavin will please walk up.
That.Mr. W. T. Stead has a bad attack of enlenle
tardiale, and has gone to Russia to establish the peace of
Europe. Henceforth we may expect to see Edward the
social and Nicky the funkey marching “ Stead-ily
shoulder to shoulder.”
That we are awaiting a reply from The Provost
respecting the verdure, etc.-clad statues of Burke and
Goldsmith.
That at a recent fire in England the premises were
gutted on account of the brigade forgetting to bring
along the lire engine.
Not bad for the land of the Saxon, but we had a
blaze recently on the banks of the Grand Canal where
a scientific edifice was burnt down through 7mm! of
wafer.
That four deaths from “ gas ” have taken place in the
South Stoneham Workhouse. V‘Vhat wonderful vitality

That Alderman Cotton, at D;Olier street, the other

That we have heard of an eminent scientist who has
been making experiments on the value of saw-dust’
