M 153., No change whatever is to be made in the fixed allo-
cation of the Force, or of any part thereof, without express
authorit-y from the Inspector-General.
154. Local Connexion.-No ofiicer, Head or other Con-
stable, shall be stationed in his nativelcounty, or in. any
county in which he or his wife has relatives, ‘or in Wl11ch
any of hischildren are connected by marriage. A father
and son.’ or brothers are not to be quartered in the same
barracks, or in adjoining sub-districts ; nor is any Head.or
other Constable to be stationed in any district in which
any relative or connexion of his keeps a shop, or is other-
wise engaged in business.-(See secs. 8 and 9).
155. If an oiiicer marries a native of the county in
which he is serving, hewill be transferred to another
county; but if any of his children should marry in the
county in Which he is actually serving, this will not neces-
sarily involve his removal to ‘another county, ‘unless circum-
stances seem to demand it.
156. Yjransfer.-lvhenever it may appear expedient from
any cause to remove ‘Head Constables, or Sergeants, 01’
Acting Sergeants in charge, from their stations, their
County Inspector is to submit the circumstances of each
case, on the proper form, to the Inspector-General, stating
fully the reasons for such recommendation. S
157 .v The ‘County Inspector may, either as a matter of
expediency or punishment, or at the reasonable request. of
the men themselves, remove Sergeants and Acting-Se1=
geants not in charge, or Constables, from one station to
another, within the county, provided that if the removal
be either on punishment or at the men’s own application;
no additional expense shall thereby be imposed on the
public; and that no alteration shall be made in the
numerical distribution of the county Force.
158. But, in exercising this authority, the County‘ Ill-
spcctor will be cautious of removing men who possess useful
ocal knowledge, or enjoy the confidence of the nearest
bench of magistrates. As a rule, men should be allowed
to serve at least two years at the same station.
