fall] fucceeded upon the Death of Archbilhop O-Dubbai. He was invefted
with the Pall in the Synod fo often before mentioned to be held by Cardinal
Paparo in 1 152 -, and thefe feven Sulfragan Bilhopricks were alligned and lub-

Duacb : Of which number the See of Maya was afterwards united to Tuam, as
was alfo the Sec of‘Enagbdune, which is omitted in the faid Diflribution. Fur-
ther, the See of Rofcoman was afterwards tranflated to that of Elpbin, and the See
of Cluzzin, or Clanmnrnois was annexed to that of drmagb, after a tedious Suit
about it in the Court of Rome. [It is ftrangc, that the Bifhoprick of Enaglh
dune lhould have no notice taken of it, norsbe fubjected to any Metropolitan;
although ‘Tuatbal 0- Comiactaig ‘, Biihop offluambruin or Enaglydune is mentioned
among the Bilhops, who allilled at that Synod. Pollibly the Union of it to '1‘ mm
was then in Contemplation, orfome delign on foot to convert it to a Parifh
Church after the Death of the then Pofielfor ; and therefore no order was taken
about it in the faid Synod] This Archbifhop convened a Synod at Rojiaman ‘ in
1158, in which many good Canons are laid to have been made. He died in
H61, and was buriediin his own Cathedral, under a Monument, on which is
infcribed an Irzjb Epitaph, giving him the Title of Comorban or Sueeeffor of
j7arlatb.' Our Hillorians have not been backward in celebrating the Fame of
his Piety, Learning, and Liberality. The fame Year in which he died, Rodcrirk
O-Connor, King of Conaugbt, built a Callie of Stone at ‘fuam; which as a thing
new and uncommon among the Irifb at that time, grew famous by the name of
the W'onderfnl Cafllc.
